“I have learned to be content whatever the circumstance.” – Philippians 4:11 In the context of this passage, the Apostle Paul is thanking the Philippian church due to their concern and care for him. It reminds me how it is our responsibility as fellow believers to watch over and take care of one another, as we are all members of the body of our Lord. When I thought about a good Scripture passage for the months update, this is what immediately came to mind, although when describing my whole time here and the attitudes of the amazing people it seems to fit all too well. I’m always humbled by the character of the people here. Like any place it’s not perfect, but in these people, moreso than anywhere else I’ve been, I see honest and pure contentment, especially among my family in the faith. Every day I’m challenged, that whatever faces me I will be content with what I have been blessed to have; the fact that the Lord led me here and has sustained me here through support of the body of Christ exemplifies the fact that He takes care of all my needs anyway, so to be discontent would be a great act of disrespect. To be content whatever the circumstances we’re in is something that is easier said than done, and by all means it is only by the Spirit we can live in such a way, but that is what God desires for us, to be content. What I’ve found also is that when we are content and taking things day by day, God is already working things out in our own lives for His glory. I challenge everyone to be more content and grateful for what we have.
Peace and Blessings,
