I am getting to know God and others in a different place. That’s what a friend told me once before when we were talking about my new journey, teaching here in Peru. How do you get to know someone else who lives and thinks and acts in a different culture? You start by letting people know who you are with basic questions.
Let me start off by saying my name is David Hancock or “Mister Daver” as the kids call me. I am here to get to know the people in Peru by telling them what a privilege it is to know our gracious and loving Saviour. I am here because several years ago God, in His incredible ways, set me on this wonderful path to serve Him with complete surrender in ministry in a different culture and place to share with others what Christ has shown me in His Word and my relationship with Him. I came here before, a couple of years ago, and with peace in my heart knew this was the next step He wanted me to take. Sixteen years ago I would never imagine I would be here. However, Proverbs 16:9 shows that “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his course.” After several missions trips, here I am ready to be used by Him in whatever way He so sovereignly chooses.
I invite you to come along with me as I am now seeking Him on where He wants me to spend my time outside of the classroom. You never know where that next place will be!
