This week, my wife Carol, my daughter Joy, and my granddaughter Emmie joined World Reach staff member Heather Thornburgh, Kay Gay, and me in travelling to Peru for a mission to minister to the children at La Roca Christian School, and hold the first missions conference ever held at the La Roca Christian Church. The missions conference has been held, our week with the children has begun, and we are already seeing God work in wonderful ways in the La Roca community!
We began this week with a missions conference at the La Roca Christian Church, where we challenged the church leaders and congregation to get involved in missions locally and globally. I spoke about the importance of church planting, and challenged the congregation to accept their calling to get involved in local and global missions. This was the first missions conference we have ever held at this church, and God blessed us with a very receptive and attentive congregation! World Reach missionaries Daniel and Sonya Perrin also shared their ministry with the congregation that Sunday, and during morning worship, Heather joined World Reach missionaries Juan Barrientos and Elise Velasquez in musical worship.
In the week following the conference, God has been using our instruction in arts and crafts to minister to the children at the La Roca Christian School. In order to create an environment that would allow us to share the Gospel and minister to these children, the arts and crafts we assigned to the children were based around stories from the Bible.
This gave us the opportunity to share the stories from Scripture that their arts and crafts were based on, and use these stories to aid the School staff in guiding them in their spiritual walk.
Carol, Heather, Emmie, Joy, and Kay worked very hard to prepare these lessons, and they have done an excellent job in instructing the children in art and guiding them spiritually through these art classes!
We are so excited to witness the ways God is working in these children’s lives, as He continues to use us through this art class for the remainder of this week! Please pray that our work continues to impact these children in ways that will bring them closer to Christ, and that we continue to see hearts being moved for missions in the congregation of the La Roca Christian Church.
