One might wonder why for some World Reach missionaries, we describe the field they serve in as “global”? The members of our staff that serve globally play an essential role in our efforts to bring the Gospel to the nations. So what do we mean when we say, “global” staff?
Global missionaries are missionaries who reside in the United States but perform active ministry in our various fields around the world. They are a vital link between our international office in the United States and the international communities that we serve. They serve as eyes and ears that help our international office see and listen to the needs of missionaries and ministries thousands of miles away. They serve as our representatives in the field coordinating Bible Institutes and conferences and seeking new opportunities to serve needs and advance the Kingdom. The ministries of our global staff members help facilitate the ministries of our career missionaries who reside in the field where they serve, and without the global staff many of the ministry projects that World Reach undertakes would not be possible.
Examples of our global staff include our Director of Latin American Bible Institutes, Bobby Wilson. Bobby lives in the United States but frequently travels between the United States and our Latin American fields, coordinating Bible Institutes, teaching conferences and courses, meeting with leaders and ensuring consistency in our curriculum.
Brad and Colleen Taylor are also global missionaries, aiding the United States office in translations when they are in the United States, and teaching Bible Institute courses and seminars when they travel to various World Reach fields.
We hope this brief article helps you understand what it means when you read about “global” staff on our website, or hear us refer to a “global missionary” at the office. We also hope that you’ll pray for these global missionaries as they follow the unique calling God has on their lives.
