One project initiative of World Reach is La Roca Christian School. The School is on the campus of La Roca Christian Church located near Lima, Peru in a suburb called Jose Galvez. The School opened its doors in 2005 with 16 children attending preschool. It has added a grade each year through 12th grade and educates approximately 350 children annually.
La Roca Christian School was started with the purpose of meeting the educational and spiritual needs of Peruvian children in the community of Jose Galvez, where no bilingual Christian school existed. The School not only provides bilingual Christian education to the children of Peru but also serves as an important evangelistic outreach tool for the children’s families. The School is the only bilingual Christian school in this area, and it impacts the lives of children and families with the Gospel of Christ.
The vision of La Roca Christian School is to train a new generation of Peruvian children to become leaders and also disciples of Christ. Less than 15% of the Peruvian population is Evangelical Christians. The School instills Christian values and principles, training children to serve the Lord for all eternity.
Lima has a population of nearly 12 million people. The majority of the population earns only $300 per month. As a result, education is a privilege provided to only a few. The cost of education at La Roca is subsidized greatly since North American teachers raise their own financial support rather than earning a salary.
The staff of La Roca hopes to one day start the first Christian University in Lima.
Please join us in the work of reaching Peruvians with the Gospel of Christ through our bilingual Christian school that is part of the local church.
