Abner & Alisson Mejia
Missionaries in Honduras
Ministry
Evangelism: Every week we serve over 100 children from a public school, who attend our Bible club. We sing, play, and teach a Bible lesson. Many of these children have made a decision for Christ and all of them hear the Gospel every week.
Discipleship: Every week we serve a small group in a community called El Porvenir. Together we study various topics on the Christian life. Our meeting is in the houses of the brothers. God has also allowed us to reach others for Christ through our Bible study group.
Leadership Training: Abner serves as the Director of the Mobile Bible Institutes for Honduras, Central America, and the Caribbean. He is also one of the instructors for the Bible School for Leaders and the Mobile Bible Institute in Honduras. In addition, Abner teaches at other World Reach institutes throughout South America. He also serves as an adjunct professor for various institutes and seminaries in Honduras and Guatemala. Abner has a passion for theological education, and the Lord has used him in this ministry for more than 20 years.
Social Assistance: Community Clinic and Mobile Clinic: Alisson practices her dental profession to serve the community in general and the people of God. She provides free preventative care to over 90 children at a day care center for single mothers and low-income children. She also visits rural communities to serve children and adults free of charge. These visits include evangelism and delivery of clothing, toys, and food kits.
Learning Resource Center: This ministry includes a library and a small computer lab. The idea is to serve public school children who do not have access to a library. It also teaches the basics of computer use.
We are also involved in our local church. Abner is currently a member of the pastoral team and regularly preaches and teaches God’s Word. Alisson serves in the music ministry and also in a women’s Bible study group.
Testimony
Abner: I trusted the Lord during Vacation Bible School when I was 7 years old. When I was 14, I was chosen as a deacon in my local church. I participated in different ministries including: youth group leader, AWANA leader, and others. I confirmed my call to ministry during a missions conference in 2001. I graduated from two theological seminaries and am currently studying for a Master’s degree in Transformational Leadership.
Alisson: I met Christ as my Lord and Savior when I was 5 years old and God used my grandmother to lead me to Christ. From a very young age, I was involved in various ministries of my local church, such as the music ministry, missions, and ministry with children and teenagers. God gave me the opportunity to graduate as a dental surgeon. My prayer was that God would use my hands and my profession to serve Him. I always prayed that God would give me a servant of His as a husband. Since our marriage on January 16, 2010, I have served alongside my husband in different places and in different ways. God has given us two beautiful children.
About Us
What are some of your hobbies?
Abner: I really like cooking for others because it is a way to serve and share with others. I also really like playing ping pong and enjoy watching documentaries about history and nature.
Alisson: I like the arts in general. I especially enjoy painting and creating crafts. I also enjoy baking cakes and preparing food for my family and friends. We both enjoy taking family trips with our children.
What is an adventure you would like to go on?
Abner: I would like to visit Israel because much of the Biblical history took place there.
Alisson: My ancestors were from China, so one day I would like to visit that country.
Who from the Bible would you like to meet in heaven?
We would both like to talk face to face with Jesus and see the face of the One who loved us so much that He gave His life on a cross for us.
