Sumy International Church Plant
One project initiative of World Reach is the International Church Plant in Sumy, Ukraine. Church planting is one of World Reach’s five core values. The idea for an international church plant in Sumy, Ukraine emerged in 2011. It was “a first” for World Reach. All previous church plants have occurred indigenously or in a specific culture rather than among multiple cultures.
World Reach consultant, Andrew Bulyhin, launched the International Church Plant with the goal of bringing together the numerous international students attending local universities in Sumy, Ukraine.
More than 1,000 foreign students study at Sumy State University, and foreign students represent over 40 countries. Students from Iraq are the largest group and are followed by Nigeria, Turkey, Syria, and Tanzania. There are students from as far as India, China, and Australia as well. A majority of the students that we are trying to reach are Muslim; however, many of the African students are from areas with Christian influence.

- Raise up Christian student leaders to help expand the ministry
- Change the hearts of students attending universities in Sumy so that they will accept Christ as Savior and return to their various homelands to make Christ known among the nations.
